Air Quality

It is not easy to maintain air quality  flow in your home. The worst thing is, indoor air pollution can linger even a few days or weeks after renovation. Some of the airborne contaminants that are usually present during home renovations are wood dust from cutting, in paints, primers, adhesives, and surface finishes, dust from sanding and drywall cutting, and off-gassing of foam insulation.

Five Options For Improving Air Quality In Your Office Building

Deal with dampness.

Wetness doesn’t just harm your home, it fosters mold and bacteria growth that can harm your respiratory health. So whenever you uncover signs of moisture—peeling paint, condensation, discolored spots, dripping water or mold—don’t just deal with the damage, find the root cause and correct it.

 Add An Air-Purifying Plant

A few carefully selected plants dotted around your living area will not only improve air quality, but can also help to reduce stress and enhance well being. According to a study by NASA, the most efficient plants for purifying the air and removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) include aloe, peace lily, spider plant, chrysanthemum and bamboo palm.  Clean daily

It may feel like an added task but cleaning your house every day during the entire renovation project is necessary to maintain quality air. You will require some high-level disinfection especially if you and your whole family (kids and pets included) are staying in the house while it’s being renovated. You can use disinfecting wipes for kitchen surfaces and items like forks and knives. Sweep the floor and vacuum carpets. Don’t forget to change or clean the filter of your vacuum after each use.

 Filtration

Rent a commercial grade air scrubber. Many remediation companies will set up the containment and rent these units for you. These are large capacity air purifiers where you can change the filter easily after it clogs with construction dust. Place one air scrubber inside the containment zone and one outside the containment zone. If this is not feasible then buy a few quality air purifiers realizing that you will need to regularly change the filters during the renovations.
